The Black Forest puts you at the head of a village in a fantasy version of the dark and dangerous Black Forest of medieval Germany. Hungry wolves have harassed farmers, stolen their chickens at night, and the situation is getting worse. Too bad.
Assign work to farmers and build a defense structure with a balance in harvesting and food harvesting and village care. Every decision is final, every loss is permanent. Every mistake brings you closer to being eaten by the jungle, forgetting the history of your people and getting lost in the sands of time.
Like Real Time Strategy (RTS) or City Building Game, you build and repair houses, fences, walls, watch towers and the like in your village using resources and manpower. Village farmers are your labor pool, you can send them to collect resources, plant and harvest fields, build buildings, etc.
When monsters come, things change. If you lose a farmer, you lose someone in your workforce. As the monsters wreak havoc, your powers diminish. Snowball bug in short supply. Decisions that at first seemed simple and unimportant are now proving feasible or deadly.
